Whenever I have a conversation with a customer about installing Solar Panels, I like to watch the look on their faces when I start explaining all the benefits. It’s a look that says, “It’s too good to be true. There must be a catch.”

The thing is, the benefits of solar paneling are that great! You are saving up to fifty-percent on your energy bills and saving the environment with clean sunlight energy!

How Do Most People Pay for Solar Paneling? Mr Roofing Solar Panels

There are actually three different ways that people choose to pay for the costs of installation. But, it’s important to keep in mind that you will recoup that money within five years from all that you will save on your energy bill (if you decide to purchase outright).

  1. Pay for it upfront. Yes, this comes out of your pocket all at one time. This is the way most people pay for it. But you still get a 30% federal tax credit and a ROI of up to 20% in some cases.
  2. Take out a home improvement loan. Monthly payments on these loans may be less than your energy bill. It’s still a win!
  3. There might be leasing options available in your area. While you will not own the solar panels, you will not be responsible for any maintenance or repairs. You still save about 20% – 50% on your monthly electric bill an switch to clean energy - instead of the dirty utility energy you are buying now. You will sign a contract and make a monthly payment for the duration of the contract. This might be a good idea for homeowners that don’t plan to be at that residence for too long or do not have the cash to put down on a full installation.
Sure, that upfront cost might be a little too steep for some. But remember those solar panels will pay for themselves!

What are the Benefits of Solar Panel Installation?

Solar panels are almost maintenance free and they will save you at least half-off on your electric bills. In fact, if you saved just $50 per month on your energy bill, it shaves about five years off the life of your mortgage. That is huge!
